There are many high quality, affordable, self-defense handguns on the market right now. If you have done a modicum of research and practice, you probably won’t go wrong with almost any of them. If you find a handgun that you like, I think it is comparable to getting a new golf club; If you look down when you are about to hit the ball, and you like what you see, that must be a good thing. Appearance isn’t important, but liking your gun is important.
The most popular of this style is the Glock. If you don’t have a preference, you will probably be well-served by any 9mm Glock. I have owned five different Glocks, and there was nothing wrong with any of them, Therefore, an obvious question to ask myself is, “What do I like about The M&P M2.0 better than the Glock? Why choose anything other than Glock?”
Compared to Glock, I prefer The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 because:
-
-
- It’s American made.
- It’s cheaper.
- It has metal sights.
- It has metal magazines rather than plastic magazines with metal on the inside.
- It has the best cocking serrations in the industry.
- It has aggressive stippling on the grip.
- It has a customizable grip that is well integrated with the rest of the pistol.
-
This list is meant to provoke thought. You don’t have to agree with everything, and you don’t have to have the same priorities I do. These are just some of the factors that drove my choice. I hope you find a handgun that you like better than the competition.
